Look Across Spruce Lake as it appears from the train and you will see
the studio and retreat of the Algoma School of Landscape Artists. Since
1984, artists from around the country have used the location as headquaters
for their painting safaris. Scenic beauty, legendary trout fishing and
the remote location have attracted visitors to Spruce Lake since the
railway constructed, the first guest cabin here in 1912.
The original hand-hewn log cabin still stands as part of Spruce Haven
Wilderness Lodge where guests enjoy the same unique respite offered
90 years ago.
